Today a friend and I ate lunch in a restaurant, wait for it, with our children – I know, what on Earth did we think we were doing?
Ok, Little dude whinged a bit but he was hungry – understandable. He did cry a bit when he was finished eating, but he was sleepy – understandable.
At no point did we let our children create a major fuss and at no point did they run riot. In fact for 2-year-olds and one 10-month-old, they behaved pretty damn well. Yet, that did not stop two women from shooting us filthy, aghast looks at every opportunity, and when Little dude went to look out the big window next to their table, well he may as well have handed them a steaming poo fresh from his nappy for the look he (and I) got.
Anyway, we ate and we left, these two women watching us as we went – clearly disgusted that we had dared bring our kids to this restaurant.
It’s not like we were at a michelin star restaurant, museum of fine art, the opera or a library. No, a family restaurant.
So, to these women I would like to say; what was your problem? What was the point of the filthy looks? And, if you’re wanting a quiet coffee maybe visit an establishment without kids’ play areas inside and outside – just saying.
Have you had similar experiences when out with your children?
