Pets, they evoke such memories don’t they? I think some of my earliest memories involve pets. Vague memories of a gentle black dog called Ben, a scatty crossbreed named Sam and our two Golden Retrievers, who I adored. As well as dogs we had an awesome cat called Arnold, my first hamster was Trixie and there was a budgie called Bobby – and many many more! I loved each and every one of my pets growing up and the memories of them all are proper warm and fluffy ones – and of course the heartbreak of losing them.
So, the pets my children will remember?
There’s Archie, our Giant Schnauzer…
He’s an old man and has seen a lot of change in the past few years. He’s gone from it to being just him and hubs, to him, hubs, me and two kiddies! Even though he will not see the children grow up, he is their first pet and I hope that they will remember him – even if it’s just as the big grumpy black dog.
Then there’s our newest recruit, Luna…
She is a Norwegian Buhund and joined our family in July. I remember getting my first puppy when I was a little girl, and that memory was pure joy – I wanted my children to have that memory. We hope Luna will grow with the children and that they will have many happy years together and fun memories made.
There of course will be loads of other pets in my childrens’ lifetime and I’m sure they will all be remembered with great fondness.
This is my entry to this week’s Gallery, hosted at Sticky Fingers. Pop on over for more scrummy pets.
