Operation potty training: Dry in one week – Day 2, 3 & 4.

Not only have I been a bit rubbish over the past few days at keeping up with this blog, but there hasn’t actually been that much to shout about either, so I thought I’d fill you in on day 2, 3 & 4 of our mission in one go.

Day 2

We actually were rather rubbish today. Little miss spent the morning in knickers from when she got up at 8 until we left the house at around 12.30. No potty business, but a few puddles. The rest of the day was to be a family affair. First we were visiting my elderly nan, Little miss’s great nanny and then my younger sister. Long story short we cheated and decided to opt for Pull-Ups for ease. We still took the potty out with us and asked Little miss regularly if she needed the toilet and had her sitting on the potty as regularly as we could. Alas still no joy today.

Fun at the park with her cousin, my mini niece.

Little miss and great nanny.

Day 3

I thought today should be interesting as Little miss was going to be at nursery for the day. We were up at 6.30 to start getting ready for the day. Little miss wouldn’t take her nappy off until she had had her morning milk so I fear we missed our chance to get the morning wee in the potty.

Off Little miss went at just gone 8am armed with a backpack full of spare knickers and clothes. We’re lucky as the staff at nursery are completely on board with what we’re doing and are prepared to work with what we’re trying to do.

When we picked Little miss up at the end of the day she had wet four pairs of knickers and was refusing to sit on the potty.

We tried to get a wee or poo out of her before bedtime to no avail. Starting to feel a bit disheartened, still, as they say, onwards and upwards!

Day 4

Again, up at 6.30 and again refusing to take nappy off before morning milk, another missed opportunity I fear. Little miss spends Tuesday mornings with hubs so it was down to him to soldier on. He dropped Little miss off at nursery at 12.30 and informed me that she had not done a wee or poo all morning, not even on the floor, despite plenty of prompts and encouragements.

We picked Little miss up at the end of the day, again she had got through a fair few sets of clothes, but hurrah she had spent time sitting on the potty.

This evening we asked Little miss to sit on the potty while she had her bedtime milk and watched a bit of  ‘Little Princess’ and ‘eureka!’ we got a teeny tiny wee in the potty! Baby steps maybe, but steps in the right direction at least.

Starting to think that getting Little miss dry in a week is a tad optimistic, but we’re going to keep going and I WILL get that morning wee in the potty tomorrow!
